A single acting ISO pneumatic cylinder works with the fluid operating on one side of the roundline cylinder only.
A single-acting ISO pneumatic air cylinder relies on a spring in order to push the piston back in the other direction.
Using pressure from the compressed air to create a driving force in one direction, and a spring to return to the original position, the single-acting roundline cylinder is an ideal component due to reduced air consumption, easy actuation and defined position in the case of a power failure.
A double-acting ISO pneumatic air cylinder works with the media operating on both sides of the piston.
Working in alternate motions in order to create a constant force, double-acting roundline cylinders are often used in applications where an external force is not available. They consist of two ports; one for outstroke and one for instroke. The piston rod is capable of long stroke lengths.
Commonly used in steam engines, double acting ISO pneumatic cylinders use the force of air to extend and retract strokes.
