A level switch is a device that detects the presence of a media be it granular, viscous, or a liquid. In a typical application, a level switch will signal a system whether the level of the measured media is within a set parameter or not. If outside the set parameters, then the system will open a valve, start a pump, or take another predetermined action to modify the level.
