Business Development Engineer

MGA Controls Ltd has been an established supplier of Control & Instrumentation solutions and services to industry for over 30 years, supplying major brands such as Val-matic, Orbinox, ValveTork, Singer Valve, IMI Precision, Maxseal, Bifold, Burkert, Baumer, Buschjost and Herion, into a wide range of industry sectors.

We currently hold framework contracts for a number of major Water Utility companies throughout the UK and have the exclusive distribution rights for the supply of the Val-matic range into the UK & Ireland marketplace.

  • Valmatic is a market leader for the supply of air release valves, plug valves and check valves into Utilities, Construction, and Industrial market sectors.

MGA Controls will typically supply these products directly to end users within the water utilities sector and to tier 1 and tier 2 contractors.

The Role

The role will initially involve identifying with end user problems and issues within the UK potable and wastewater treatment sectors and to assist users to identify and implement effective solutions. The successful candidate should be able to contribute in each of the following areas.

  • To introduce new and existing products and solutions into the water distribution and wastewater sectors in the UK.
  • To assist end users to experience some of the benefits and savings that can be achieved by the effective deployment of these technically innovative products.
  • To organize and deliver training programmes into the water industry on how to size, commission, maintain and repair a wide variety of valves.
  • To help establish and promote The Val-matic brand into the UK marketplace and across Europe.
  • To work towards agreed sales targets and performance metrics
  • To participate in sales/technical calls to key end-users, engineers, and water industry suppliers.
  • To take the lead in training other agents or distributors on how to market, sell and support products successfully.

Candidate Experience

The successful candidate should have the following experience:

  • Worked in support of the water distribution and/or water treatment industry for several years.
  • Will have experience of and the ability to work remotely if required
  • Will have extensive knowledge of the issues, needs, and demands of the UK water industry. An understanding of Totex and cost benefit analysis would be beneficial.
  • Will be up to date on water leakage management issues within the UK
  • Will have been involved in the specifying, commissioning, or maintaining of valves to the Water Industry.
  • Will have an extensive network of contacts within the UK Water Industry
  • Will have considerable knowledge and experience of control valves and in particular, a knowledge of other competing products within the Water Industry.
  • Demonstrable experience of having worked in a sales or business development environment.

Personal attributes and qualifications

The successful candidate will be qualified to degree level or equivalent with a relevant engineering background.

  • He/she will be a self-motivated individual with a demonstrable ability to work without direct supervision.
  • A strong desire to succeed and an aptitude to strive towards target achievement will be essential qualities.
  • Personable with well-developed interpersonal skills that will allow effective communication with management and maintenance staff alike.

Process Sector Account Manager

MGA Controls Ltd is an established supplier of Valve & Instrumentation solutions and services to industry for over 30 years, supplying major brands such as Asco Numatics, Baumer, Burkert, IMI Norgren, Buschjost, Herion, Watson Smith, Orbinox, Noreva, Bifold, Maxseal, Alco, Stubbe and Valmatic into a wide range of industry sectors. We offer a high level of technical expertise to our customers and also have working relationships with many other different suppliers, allowing us to offer our customers complete package solutions.

The Role

We are currently experiencing a period of considerable growth and expansion and as a consequence, we have vacancies for experienced account managers to handle enquiries and to manage our customer account base for the Process Industry Sales team.

Our target markets include the Chemical, Food & Beverage, Process Manufacturing, Oil & Gas and Utility sectors as well as OEMs and reseller organisations. The roles will be primarily office based, although Account Managers will be required to make occasional visits to site as dictated by customers.

The role will require identifying with end user problems and issues within the industry and assisting users to implement cost effective solutions. The successful candidates will need to be able to demonstrate an ability to be able to contribute in each of the following areas.

  • To promote and sell the Valve & Instrumentation products from the manufacturers for whom MGA Controls are distributors and agents.
  • To handle customer enquiries in a professional and timely manner
  • To promote and sell valve actuation packages
  • To be able to offer customers a single source of supply for all their Control & Instrumentation requirements.
  • To have a strong technical background in the field of valves and/or instrumentation.
  • The Account Manager will need to be able to influence a team of technical sales resources to do the same.
  • To work with the Sales Manager and MD in defining and implementing our future sales strategy.
  • To be responsible for sales management activity such as pipeline management, forecasting, enquiry qualification within our CRM platform (Salesforce)
  • The successful candidate will be expected to carry a sales target based on revenue and margin and will be able to demonstrate having worked in this manner previously.

Candidate Experience

The successful candidates should have the following experience:-

  • Will have worked in the Process/Energy sector for at least 5 years or more.
  • Will have extensive knowledge of the issues, needs and demands of the Valve & Instrumentation markets within the UK Process manufacturing industry and/or the UK Water industry
  • Will have an established network of contacts within the Process Industry.
  • Demonstrable experience of having worked in a sales and/or business development environment with a track record of target achievement.

Personal attributes and qualifications

  • The successful candidate will have a process industry background and will be able to display the following attributes;
  • He/she will be a self-motivated individual with a demonstrable ability to work without direct supervision.
  • A strong desire to succeed and an aptitude to strive towards target achievement will be essential qualities.
  • Proven ability to manage and influence resources within an account management context.
  • Personable with well developed interpersonal skills that will allow effective communication with engineering and maintenance staff alike.
  • Should have a solid technical background in an appropriate field.
  • Will be required to live within reasonable commuting distance to Ormskirk/Burscough. (within 15 -20 miles)

Trainee Logistics & Workshop Assistant

The Role

We are looking for an enthusiastic and energic person with an open-mindedness to learn and adopt our working procedures in our logistics/workshop department.
Full training will be given working towards the ability to:

  • Logistics
  • Stock control & maintenance
  • Valve builds & modifications
  • Documentation
  • Forklift truck licence (Age dependant)

Qualifications

  • Educated to GCSE Level or equivalent
  • Good computer and numeracy literacy skills
  • Full driving licence desirable

Remuneration

Negotiable depending on experience.
