Knife Gate Valves are designed to control the isolation of process fluids that contain suspended solids or viscous material. The term ‘knife gate’ refers to the disc or gate that cuts through the process media and closes the valve. The valve options include a Rising or Non-Rising Stem and with a full port design, pressure drop is minimised in the fully opened position whilst the gate closes against a sealing face to form either a Bi-Directional or Uni-Directional seal.
Whether Bi- or Uni-directional, the Knife Gate Valves can be operated with a range of manual actuators including options such as Handwheel, Bevel Gear with Hand Wheel, Chain Wheel, Lever or Square Nut (Cap Top) drive. For automated or controlled actuation valves can be operated Pneumatically, Electrically, or Hydraulically.
Knife Gate Valves are available in a range of short face-to-face pattern body designs and materials and tested and certified to meet the corresponding industry varying requirements such as; contaminated, hazardous or aggressive media; pressure; temperature; hazardous areas; and size. A range of connecting flange patterns are available with tapped, through-hole, semi-lugged and fully lugged options.
Fully fabricated valves can be produced with a range of special alloys for extreme process conditions, handling aggressive media at high pressures and temperatures.
With non-clogging, compact, lightweight and low torque designs, unlike a Wedge Gate Valves, Knife Gate Valves are advantageous in applications involving light or heavy liquids (with or without suspended solids), sewage, pulp, sludges, slurries, biogas, heavy oils, steam, light grease & varnish. Capable of handling such a wide range of media and offering long-term operational reliability, they are used in industries such as Irrigation, Water, Wastewater, Pulp & Paper, Power, Oil & Gas, Petro-Chemical, Mining, Agriculture, Food & Beverage, etc.
